Okay, I realize this probably isn’t a big deal, but I just successfully created my own favicon and installed it on my site! I’m kind of in love with it. It’s a picture of one of the pillars of the Golden Gate Bridge (very bay area appropriate) but the perspective of the photo makes it look like an “A” for Andree!
Yes, I’m a nerd.

“The Scientist” came up on one of my Pandora stations today and I remembered how much I love this song.  Plus the whole “backwards storytelling” music video is crazy and amazing.  You can watch it below on YouTube.

I love how a certain song or album perfectly captures a feeling or a moment in time.  Coldplay’s A Rush of Blood to the Head, which features “The Scientist,” instantly transports me back to my freshman year in college.  It will forever remind me of my friend Jeremy, with whom I have unfortunately lost touch in the past couple of years.  It’s a beautiful song – enjoy.

It has been quite some time since I last posted about a local bay area haunt.  Well, I decided today that this cafe is too good to not mention.  For serious.

I love French food.  Most of all, I love the simple foods that come from the French, such as quiche and croissants.  A few months ago, I was on the hunt to find good croissants.  I’m not talking about the croissants you find at the grocery store or at most cafes.  I’m talking about real, flaky, buttery, French croissants.  I searched online for French bakeries and came across Pamplemousse Cafe.

Oh my goodness.

If you live in the bay area, you must go there IMMEDIATELY and buy yourself a croissant.  Or two.  We won’t tell.  The croissants are amazing.

They serve breakfast all day.  You can get French breakfast (tartines) or other breakfast foods.  Lunch is also great. The quiche is delicious.  The soup is fantastic. Oh yeah, they also make cakes.  I’ve not yet sampled them, but they look unreal.  And delicious.

Pamplemousse Patisserie & Cafe is located at 2401 Broadway in Redwood City (corner of Broadway & Winslow).

You may remember that I’m not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions.  Unless they’re from Neil Patrick Harris.  But you also might remember that I like lists.  And the New Year wouldn’t be the New Year without some kind of list, right?

Right.

Here is mine:

Memorable Moments of 2010 (in no particular order):

  • Sitting through two sweltering graduation ceremonies in a black gown and hood.
  • Attempting to become a “runner.”
  • Learning how to do both the jerk and the Dougie.
  • Bicycling along the Mekong Delta in south Vietnam, eating a stir-fried tarantula in Cambodia, exploring the temples of Angkor, and scuba diving in the Gulf of Thailand.
  • Taking 200 students camping.
  • Celebrating 10 years of adulthood with my bestest in Atlantic City.
  • Spending a day with my 90-year-old grandmother and talking about the music of her childhood.
  • Moving into a real house with a garage and yard duties.

Now onto 2011! Shazam!

There’s nothing quite like redwoods to make your problems seem insignificant.  A view from Samuel Taylor State Park, looking straight up:
