I heard a song today that immediately made me think of my friend, Kate, for multiple reasons. So Kate, here is the song – dedicated to you with sisterly love. <3
For the rest of you, here is a pick-me-up song for this “please let it be the weekend already” kind of Thursday. Enjoy.

Song of the Day – Radiohead’s Lotus Flower:
I’ve been listening to their new album, Dead Air Space, non-stop this week. You can buy it on the Radiohead website.
i see the light

I’m not that kind of girl that pays attention to or cares about celebrity gossip. The Academy Awards were on this past Sunday, and I did not watch them. I didn’t really see the point. It sounds like one of my friends managed to turn the awards show into a drinking game with her husband, so perhaps I’ll have to try out her method next year.
Back to the real point of this post. Despite my disinterest in all things celebrity, I have a not-so-secret secret crush on Zachary Levi. He’s an actor in one of my favorite TV shows, Chuck. Video game nerd turned CIA secret agent? Yes please! Anyway, one of my students told me today that he was at the Academy Awards to sing a duet with Mandy Moore from their movie Tangled (which I saw with my nieces and perhaps enjoyed it more than they did). I can’t believe I missed that! I’ve been searching high and low for a good quality video of the performance online, and this is the best I found:
If you find a better version, let me know!
the scientist
Feb 25th
“The Scientist” came up on one of my Pandora stations today and I remembered how much I love this song. Plus the whole “backwards storytelling” music video is crazy and amazing. You can watch it below on YouTube.
I love how a certain song or album perfectly captures a feeling or a moment in time. Coldplay’s A Rush of Blood to the Head, which features “The Scientist,” instantly transports me back to my freshman year in college. It will forever remind me of my friend Jeremy, with whom I have unfortunately lost touch in the past couple of years. It’s a beautiful song – enjoy.
florence + the machine
Jul 1st
I’m obsessed. I’ve been listening to the album Lungs from Florence + The Machine on repeat for the past couple of days. I first heard Flo’s cover of Addicted to Love a couple weeks ago and I was intrigued. I started listening to some of her other songs and found Cosmic Love, of which I simply cannot get enough. You can listen to it on her site or on MySpace.
Lungs is an amazing album and I highly recommend it. Also, Flo has a song on the Eclipse Soundtrack – Heavy In Your Arms – which is also great.
